apibrėžtis Kompleksinės Lietuvos sporto veteranų varžybos, kurių tikslas plėtoti šalies sporto veteranų sąjūdį, propaguoti sveiką gyvenseną tarp pagyvenusių žmonių, skatinti fizinį aktyvumą. Lietuvos veteranų sporto žaidynių devizas: „Iš praeities tavo sūnūs…“. Pirmosios Lietuvos veteranų sporto žaidynės surengtos 1996 m. Jų programoje buvo akademinio, baidarių ir kanojų irklavimo, biliardo, bočios, buriavimo, dziudo, fechtavimosi, futbolo, gimnastikos, jojimo, krepšinio, ledo ritulio, lengvosios ir sunkiosios atletikos, ritinio, orientavimosi sporto, plaukimo, rankinio, regbio, sklandymo, sportinės žūklės, sportinių šokių, šaudymo, šuolių į vandenį, teniso, tinklinio, vandensvydžio varžybos.
